This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic professional to join us in developing the Environment Agency’s incident management service in Hertfordshire and North London. Leading on incident training and exercising, you will work with local and national colleagues to ensure our staff are prepared to respond to all types of environmental and flooding incidents. You will:
- develop and maintain a training and exercising plan, prioritising needs around the risk and resource available
- coordinate a local network of incident role leads; advise on the creation of good quality training and exercising, and ensure it is delivered well by using assured standards of creation and feedback mechanisms
- contribute to our Incident Management Centre for Excellence, to support training, exercising and assurance throughout the Environment Agency
- support the team to carry out its wider functions including reviewing existing and emerging risks, emergency planning, and training and exercising

You will also support our multi-agency work with external partners through Local and Borough Resilience Forums and be expected to contribute to our response to all types of incidents. During office hours this will include a role in leading the initial tactical response to emerging incidents.

Experience/skills required
- You will have:
- experience of producing and delivering high quality training and exercising to suit a range of learning styles
- effective written and verbal communication skills, able to influence and collaborate with others to achieve shared outcomes
- a drive for continuous improvement, including supporting the development of others
- confidence working on your own and as part of team, with the ability to lead and support working/task groups and organise/facilitate effective meetings
- resilience and adaptability under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and make risk-based decisions in challenging circumstances
- commitment to a culture that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion; health safety and wellbeing, and to tackling the impacts of the climate and ecological emergency through your work

- You will be based from our Welwyn Garden City office. There will be an expectation of regular travel to the office as well as the flexibility to work from home as part of any future hybrid-working patterns.
