Working in close conjunction with the Group Broking Director, you will take the lead in the placement of all new business prospects won by Account Executives from the Leeds office. This includes putting together presentations, creating reports and marketing risks. You will help give your colleagues the competitive edge in their new business pitches by, where possible, scrutinising prospects’ current insurance arrangements, highlighting gaps in cover, and using your technical skills to create innovative solutions that mitigate these. You will also help to manage relationships with insurer partners (as well as helping gain agencies with additional carriers), to develop an understanding of their appetites for specific risks, talk through your pipeline and strengthen relationships. Whilst this role is very much focused on new business, you will also be expected to ‘pitch in’ and help colleagues that specialise in existing business, when necessary.

This broker has developed a large and diverse portfolio, and you could be tasked with marketing any conceivable risk, both blue and white collar. Whilst the Account Executives have a wide appetite when it comes to what they target, they don’t tend to write business with earnings under £5K (although they will “take a view” on ‘low hanging fruit’ that is under this). It’s fair to say that their bread-and-butter business probably sits around the £15K-20K commission / fee income mark.
