Buddy/enabler

**B** is a 26-year-old male with an acquired brain injury (ABI) who is looking for a sociable Buddy/Enabler.
**B** benefits from being active so a proactive Buddy would be ideal to encourage B to try out other activities which he may enjoy. One of his passions is motorbike mechanics, he loves tinkering with an engine so if you are handy with a spanner all the better He would also love to go and watch some motocross and socialise over a game of pool. **The Role**:
**B** has an Acquired Brain Injury sustained 6 years ago. He lives with his parents and has recently started to attend an organisation in Wakefield called 2nd Chance who are helping him to become more independent. He very much enjoys attending 2nd Chance sessions but can become bored and frustrated on the days he doesn’t attend and this can lead to episodes of non-violent anger. 2nd Chance are working with him to manage this.

**B** is fully verbal and mobile and part of this role will be to encourage him to try out new activities which will engage him and reduce his boredom. You will also help him to socialise. He is starting a college course in motorcycle mechanics in September and his team are hoping to find or create a small workshop space for him to be able to work in as a hobby with support from his Buddy/Enabler.

**About You**:
You will provide a supportive and energetic approach to our client by following his Care plan and helping him achieve his rehabilitation goals

You will be kind, positive and reliable with a good sense of humour and proactively encourage
**B** to try out new activities to alleviate the boredom he feels when not engaged in an activity. B is looking for a Buddy/Enabler who is an honest and open person and with whom he can build a relationship of trust. Sometimes
**B** can become frustrated which may lead him to swearing when out and about and you would need to be open-minded about this As mentioned, he’s working very hard on his anger management.

You will enjoy the company of dogs and have no allergies to them as our client has a friendly family dog. The family also have racing pigeon’s kept outside in an aviary. Whilst you won’t be required to have any direct interaction with the pigeons, you will have no allergies to them.

You will need to be a driver (over 21 for insurance purposes) who can take our client out and about in your own car (business insurance, mileage, parking etc will be paid by the Employer)

£13 per hour weekdays/weekday evenings

£14 per hour weekends/weekend evenings

**Hours / Shifts**

The role will be for 18 hours per week, working the following shifts:
Monday - 6 Hours - approximately 10:00 to 16:00 with some flexibility on hours

Wednesday - 6 Hours - approximately 10:00 to 16:00 with some flexibility on hours
