**About the Role**

OCC are looking to recruit a motivated Officer, who is happy working independently outdoors most of the time and is knowledgeable and experienced in the inspection and repair of highway structures. They will support the structures team by performing the following primary activities:

- General inspections, safety inspections and monitoring, utilising Bridgestation software for recording the findings and providing advice on required actions.
- Identifying required repairs, considering the constraints, raising appropriate works orders for remediation and helping manage the programme of their implementation.
- Ensure compliance with current legislation, such as land drainage consent, Wildlife and Countryside Act, NRSWA (with regard utility apparatus and co-ordination of roadworks, including an understanding of Chapter 8 Traffic Management and The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
- Designing and specifying minor structural repairs.
- Responding to queries from the public and Councillors on problems with highway structures and assisting in taking appropriate actions to deal with them
- To improve their technical skills to increase the intelligent client role across the structures team.

**About you**
- A Level 4 NVQ (HNC) (or similar qualification in the relevant discipline) OR significant experience in the relevant specialist field of work
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience of undertaking Principal Inspection, General Inspections and special inspections of Bridges and other Highway Structures to DMRB and the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
- Work Independently and as part of a team to deliver bridge maintenance designs, resulting from bridge maintenance needs and operational works priorities.
- Provide technical input to the agreement of project briefs, proposals, and deliverables with Project Managers.
- Demonstrate compliance with Health, Safety and Welfare and CDM responsibilities.
- Be an active and collaborative team member, and work with other disciplines, including the Client team.
- Contribute to technical excellence and innovation within team.
- Take responsibility for own personal development; and developing others.
