An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Britten Norman. Due to ongoing growth we are now recruiting for an Head of the Office of Airworthiness to join us at our Southampton team.

This role will manage and lead the Office of Airworthiness for all aspects of Airworthiness concerning civilian and military contracts on behalf of BNA as directed by the Technical Director (Head of Design).

Primary Tasks
- Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

- Management and leadership of the Airworthiness area.
- Liaison between the design organisation and EASA, CAA and MoD with respect to all aspects of Type Investigation.
- Ensuring that the Design Office Handbook is prepared and updated as required to maintain EASA, CAA and Military approvals.
- Issuing of guidelines for documenting compliance against the various BCAR’s, CS’s, Def Stan 00-56 or other appropriate design specifications.
- Advising of all departments of the design organisation in all questions regarding airworthiness, environmental protection approvals and certification.
- Preparation of the Type Investigation programme and co-ordination of all tasks related to Type Investigation in concurrence with the Agency. [The Agency is considered to be the regulatory authorities such as EASA, CAA, DAOS, TESD and so on]
- Regular reporting to the Agency about Type Investigation progress and announcement of scheduled tests in due time.
- Ensuring co-operation in preparing test programmes needed for demonstration of compliance.
- Establishing the compliance checklist and updating for changes.
- Checking that all compliance documents are prepared as necessary to show compliance with all CS and environmental protection requirements, as well as for completeness, and signing for release of the documents.
- Providing verification to the head of the design organisation that all activities required for Type Investigation have been properly completed.
- Ensuring the initiation of activities as a response to failure (accident/incident/in-service experience) evaluation and complaints from the operation and providing of information to the Agency in case of airworthiness impairment (continuing airworthiness).
- To actively represent the views and opinions of members within the department, at all levels, within a management forum.
- To be robust in implementing collective decisions made at manager/director level, including all procedural matters.
- To ensure they do not endanger themselves or others by the use of unsafe working practices.
- To undertake training as appropriate in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.
- Any other duties as commensurate with the grade and/or responsibilities of the role.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of aerospace design and certification issues.
- Detailed knowledge of current airworthiness requirements (e.g. CS, FAR etc.).

Required Experience
- Design Office
- Experience in an aerospace design environment.
- Experience of dealing with CAA/EASA
