- As a Cover Supervisor/Senior Teaching Assistant you will be working as a member of the support staff team to ensure consistent quality delivery of whole class teaching, teaching assistant support and interventions. This varied role adapts to the requirements of the school on a daily basis where lessons may need to be covered and support in the class is adapted to available staffing. You will be a valued member of staff with access to regular CPD opportunities working alongside both the teaching and support staff team to plan the best provision for our learners. Interventions may include: literacy/numeracy or speech and language in line with the skills of the post holder.Cover for class teacher, during course attendance/short term absence.- During times of cover, lead the TA to ensure the smooth running of the class.- Support teachers in lesson planning evaluating and adjusting such plans to fostering attractive learning environments to ensure that students spend their school life in stimulating surroundings.- Support teachers in monitoring and evaluating students’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of activities so that students receive the maximum benefit from their education.- Support students in class with a range of learning activities.- Implement agreed teaching programmes adjusting as necessary to meet the needs to the students thus making effective use of opportunities and resources available.- Support the class teacher with preparation, maintenance of general and specialist equipment/resources required to meet lesson plans/relevant learning activity.- Implement a range of targeted interventions as directed by the intervention team lead.For this role, you will have:
Experience of working as a Teaching Assistant for students with MLD.- GCSE/O level English and Maths C grade and above. NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.- Working knowledge of national/foundation stage curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.- Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes.- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.- Understanding the importance of effective safeguarding within the role- Ability to relate well to children and adults.- Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.- Effective use of ICT support learning.- Use of other equipment technology - video, photocopier.- Desirable Appropriate first aid training.- Training in the relevant strategies e.g. Maths and English and/or in particular curriculum or learning area e.g. bi-lingual, sign language, dyslexia, ICT- Experience working with children of relevant age.- Full working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.- Fle
