The Operational Capabilities Command is a newly appointed directorate, where our mission is to ensure that operational colleagues have the skills, capabilities, tools and infrastructure which are modern, environmentally sustainable, fit for purpose and allows staff to maximise their operational effectiveness.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Director Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) and Reporting Offender Management (ROM) Operational Assurance Lead, who will direct and manage assurance staff in conducting second line assurance of operational front-line staff while they carry out their duties as part of the Home Office’s strategic aim to reduce the number of illegal migrants present in the UK and to work with partners, employers and the public to increase compliance with Immigration and employment rules.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will provide strategic direction and leadership to the assurance team, driving continuous performance improvements and enhancing professionalism and accountability within ICE and ROM teams. You will lead a truly professional, high-performing team with the necessary capabilities and skills to deliver for Immigration Enforcement and the wider Home Office. **Person specification**:
As Assistant Director Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) and Reporting Offender Management (ROM) Operational Assurance Lead, you will be:

- Providing visible and inspirational leadership to the assurance, ICE and ROM teams.
- Acting as a professional and visible role model by undergoing appropriate enforcement training to enable you to be both warranted and arrest trained, so that you are able to accompany assurance and front-line staff on operational visits on a regular basis.
- Leading the team successfully to embed our IE vision by creating a positive team spirit, role modelling positive behaviours, recognising and praising strong-performance and effectively handling under-performance.
- Building team capability and supporting and encouraging sharing of knowledge, skills and best practice, to embed IE’s vision, and increase public confidence in Immigration Enforcement and the wider Home Office.
- Leading strategic oversight of the assurance team in contributing to delivering the National Programme of ICE and ROM front line operational verification visits, by visiting ICE and ROM locations throughout the UK to assess compliance with guidance and legislation.
- Leading and managing the deployment of assurance officers to conduct verification visits.
- Identifying areas and trends of non-compliance with guidance and legislation, ensuring accurate reporting is shared with relevant stakeholders.
