**Job summary**:
Are you looking for an opportunity to deliver ground-breaking **Analysis **or **Systems Engineering **at the heart of the RAF?

Can you provide detailed, robust, impartial and operationally-focused scientific, analytical, and technical advice to improve the war-fighting capability of UK Air and Space power

As part of the **Dstl Air and Space Warfare Centre (ASWC) Team**, you'll be working together alongside MOD Analyst’s within the **Operational Analysis Element** (OAE) to improve current and future RAF capabilities by providing evidence-based analytical support direct to the war-fighter;
- We are a multidisciplinary team spanning the full STEM spectrum; delivering innovative, high quality and impactful insights to the RAF.
- We provide advice and guidance to Air Power Operational and Tactical Capabilities; providing crucial and timely mission support to the front-line in peacetime and at war.
- We undertake Test and Evaluation (T&E) to improve understanding of performance and system behaviour, to provide assurance of capability and to develop Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) against a wide range of new and emerging threats.
- We work with DST and the Scientific Advisors to draw lessons from today’s platforms and Operations to influence Air’s view of future S&T direction.

**Job description**:
**In these roles you will**:

- Provide timely, impartial, evidence-based advice to customers to enable them to make informed decisions on the deployment of UK platforms and Operations.
- Work directly with the customers to understand and craft their requirements.
- Explore and visualise data to present its story in a relevant way to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Use problem-solving skills to think creatively about Air questions and generate practical solutions.
- Support MoD on future system developments, including definition of requirements.
- Actively liaise with Dstl, ASWC, DE&S, industry etc. to share knowledge and ensure a common understanding.

**Roles Available**

**Operational Analyst - ASWC HQ, based within RAF Waddington, Lincoln**

Within the ASWC HQ, you will have the opportunity to work within any of the following areas:

- Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR)

**Operational Analyst - Storm Shadow Centralised Mission Planning Facility (SSCMPF), based within Permanent Joint Force Headquarters (PJHQ), Northwood**

**We are looking for people who have**:

- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to confidently communicate concepts and ideas to a range of interested parties adapting communication style to suit the understanding of the audience
- A desire to proactively explore, investigate, and ask questions in order to improve understanding and define requirements
- The ability to adapt and work flexibly in response to changing requirements

**Qualifications**

**Essential**
- Bachelor, Master or PhD in a scientific or numerical discipline

**Desirable**
- Achieved or working towards, membership or higher status of a professional body
- Full (clean) UK Driving License (you will need to travel to remote sites where public transport may not be available)

**Skills & Experience**

**Essential**
- Proven ability using Excel (or another scientific tool) to organise and analyse data
- Experience running scientific and/or engineering models
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Proven record as a team player with strong communication skills, both written and oral, and
- Ability to adapt in response to changing circumstances
