Our people work differently depending on their jobs and needs. From home working to job sharing, visit the remote and flexible working page on our website to find out more.

This role is based in the United Kingdom and as such all normal working days must be carried out in the United Kingdom.

Join us as a Product Owner, Middleware
- We’ll look to you to bring active middleware product ownership to life and implement core infrastructure technologies and services against customer and non-functional requirements
- To achieve a first-class customer experience, you’ll make sure the infrastructure technology is engineered to comply with security, availability and resilience, performance, and capacity
- You’ll manage relationships with colleagues across the bank, allowing you to expand your network and gain exposure for you and your work across the middleware technology estate

**What you’ll do**:
As a Product Owner, Middleware, you’ll be contributing to and managing the selection, creation and maintenance of infrastructure technologies required to meet the needs of all middleware customers, ensuring alignment to the Chief Technology Office strategic targets and architecture outcomes.

You’ll develop the concept of active productive ownership across middleware’s customer base. Not only will you communicate and share long-term strategic visions with middleware stakeholders and business customers, but you’ll link complex middleware technology to real world business contexts.

You’ll also be:

- Making sure the required work in the platform backlog contains detailed acceptance criteria, and a clear warranty period when a system migration is complete
- Responsible for the most complex and risk-exposed technical infrastructures
- Producing and providing ongoing management of middleware infrastructure roadmaps, and detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products to end of support and retirement
- Providing operational support to other infrastructure teams in the event of major incidents or complex technical issues
- Building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across the bank to make sure decisions are commercially focused and create long-term value for the organisation

**The skills you’ll need**:
You’ll need to understand how your area of expertise supports all middleware customers. You’ll also know how infrastructure layers fit into customer services, and have a broad knowledge across multiple platforms such as servers, operating systems, virtualisations, databases, middleware, and networks.

Along with experience of contributing to roadmaps and strategies and working closely with third parties, you’ll need the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to your peers and management level colleagues, with good collaboration and customer stakeholder management skills.

You’ll also demonstrate:

- An awareness of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and cloud technologies
- An understanding of agile methodologies paired with working knowledge of the agile toolsets and experience of working in an agile team
- The ability to relate everyday work to the strategic vision of the feature team, platform, and domain
- A clear understanding of the DevOps mindset, collaboration, automation, and tooling
- A background of working in a complex, multi-disciplined matrix team
