Bangor, United Kingdom Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Full time

❖ Of the highest possible quality

❖ Providing value for money

❖ Meeting the needs of the employer and the students under training

❖ Reflecting the mission, values and aims of the college

The assessor role has many facets which include sourcing and maintaining a caseload of work-based learners, supporting learners to develop an understanding of the underpinning knowledge relating to the industry and also working alongside the employer to ensure that each learner receives opportunities to develop the skills required to demonstrate competency to meet and exceed the requirements of their chosen qualification/framework. Assessors are expected to utilise excellent time management skills to plan visits to salons to carry out observations, provide online assessments and to provide work-based support to the learner and also sometimes to the employer. The ability to communicate bilingually is advantageous. It is important to be able to empower learners to be in control of their own learning which includes supporting them to plan for assessments and recognise their own development needs and be responsible for their own commitment to the framework. All evidence is uploaded to an electronic portfolio by the assessor; this needs to be done in a timely manner so that progress is current and feedback can be provided to the learner. Effective communication skills are essential for this role as assessors liaise with other staff that support the learner such as Essential Skills staff and Additional Learning Needs support staff. Effective communication ensures that the learners complete and achieve their qualification within the timeframe provided. While the majority of the role will be supporting learners in the workplace there is an expectation that all assessors support training in the college based salon in Llangefni. This involves working with learners to develop skills required for their level of framework through demonstration, one to one and small group support and observation. The role also included supervising learners in the salon as they provide a commercial service to clients in the college salon. This is a service that happens within and outside of college hours.
