BS Social Care are currently recruiting for 2 Waking Night Children's Residential Care Workers to work in one of our homes providing a nurturing, caring, and safe service for six children aged between 5 and 18 years. We support them to grow and learn and todevelop their skills, confidence, and independence. The children and young people who live at the home have different learning, physical and emotional needs. Some children have high level complex needs, including health and social needs and behaviours thatcan challenge. Our vision is to build happy and healthy childhoods and support every child to thrive.
The service is staffed 24 hours per day by a dedicated team working on a shift basis. The children and young people can live with us until they move into adult accommodation, and therefore it is essential that the service feels like home
About the employer; this is a large country wide charity.
About the job; our Waking Night Workers perform a critical role within our services and are a vital part of the team.
Work with another member of the waking night team to remain awake for the duration of each shift and create a safe and secure overnight environment within the home.
Meet the care needs of the children overnight.
Build secure and professional working relationships with each child to understand and communicate their needs through listening, conversations and using pictures.
Safeguard the children - including reporting and responding to safeguarding disclosures and accessing support from relevant services and managers when necessary.
Follow protocols to contact emergency services as required to deal with any relevant issue or incident.
Have an open and flexible approach to working with children and a commitment to understanding how to positively manage behaviours that can challenge.
Complete general housekeeping and domestic tasks to maintain living standards within the home including cleaning, loading/unloading the washing machine, tidying children's rooms and clothes, to keep the home safe, clean, and tidy and helping prepare everythingthe children will need for the following day.
Maintain a safe environment by paying regard to building security, monitoring CCTV, understanding, and implementing fire drill arrangements.
Carry out health and safety procedures, including regular inspections of communal areas during the night.
To complete a handover process with evening shift leaders, and with incoming staff each morning that highlights any issues or incidents during the night.
To record telephone calls, incidents, conversations, repairs, or faults on the system and ensure they are included in the handover process with day staff.
To contact service managers as necessary to report any urgent or serious issues or incidents.
This is a full time and permanent role working 30 hours per week of 3 night shifts paying £29,000 with the option of overtime. You will be offered an intense induction followed by consistent training and supervisions. Progression is offered and supported. Qualificationsare also paid for.
