**Marine Superintendent**
Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) LTD operates from Aberdeen, with a fleet of modern emergency response and rescue vessels. VOS Aberdeen forms part of our Offshore Services Division, with further offices in Breda and Den Helder (NL), Genoa (IT) and Singapore. The Aberdeen-managed vessels are active mainly in the North Sea area. Our most important objective is making our customers successful by providing safe and highly efficient shipping services and offshore-support solutions.
**What will you do?**
In this function, the Marine Superintendent:
- is responsible for the offshore vessels assigned to him within the technical, policy formulated;
- bears the ultimate responsibility for the condition of the offshore vessel in accordance with the agreed policy and for the operational costs, and supervises and reports in this context;
- is responsible for regular visits to the offshore vessels and the execution of repairs and dockings in accordance with the maintenance planning and the vessel policy drawn up by him;
- performs any other specific responsibilities and tasks assigned to him by the Management;
- takes care of his own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by his actions at work;
- co-operates with the organisation, colleagues and co-workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements and maintain the company’s quality, health, safety and environmental policies within the confines of their role;
- complies with applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, laws and accepted safe work practices;
- liaises with Masters and provides advice, guidance and assistance where necessary;
- has a focal point for the process of vessel sales;
advises and provides guidance and assistance to Crewing with regards to manning levels for the vessels;
- advises the Crewing Manager with regards to the placement of Masters and Bridge Officers, including promotions and new builds;
- reviews the charts and publications for the vessels with our suppliers;
- liaises with the Training Coordinator with regards to possible courses for Masters and Mates;
- carries out vessel visits and appraises Masters / Chief Officers on ship handling skills;
- carries out sailing Audits if required;
- carries out reviews of CMIDS and OVIDS;
- reviews all deck paperwork ensuring that FRC and Dacon Scoop exercises are carried out and recorded;
- in conjunction with other Superintendents formulates and implements Company training policies;
monitors the performance of vessels and conducts internal audits to ensure compliance with the Company Shipboard Operations;
- keeps abreast of any updates and innovations /changes in the industry, including changes in legal requirements, which may affect Company, owned or managed vessels;
- ensures that vessels files in the office are properly maintained, ensures office copies of all vessel certification, vessel specifications and any computer databases are maintained and kept up to date. Is also responsible for ensuring that all original vessel certificates are checked and forwarded to vessels;
- takes part in on call duty on rotational basis as required;
- supports the New Build Manager with the registration and obtains documentation associated with each new build vessel;
- complies with applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, laws and accepted safe work practices;
- carries out any other tasks that are assigned by the Fleet Manager or Manager Ship Management.

**Who are we looking for?**
- Minimum educational level:
- higher Vocational Education or
- higher Technical Education as Maritime Engineer, Ship Engineering
- Minimum experience:
- previous experience as Chief Engineer / 1st Engineer;
for Marine Superintendent Previous experience as Chief Officer or Master;
- previous similar experience in Ship repair or Ship Management;
- previous experience and knowledge in reading construction drawings (Newbuilding).
- Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
