We are seeking to appoint anenthusiastic and highly motivatedindividual to join our research delivery team here at Guy’s & St Thomas' NHS Trust.
The research team coordinates a large portfolio of local and nationally important non-commercial clinical studies across IBD, Endoscopy, Hepatology and Upper GI, involving both outpatient and inpatient services. The post holder will play a key role in supporting new and existing studies across the expanding portfolio.
The normal working hours for the post are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, although the post holder will need to be flexible to accommodate patient visits and assessments outside of these hours when required.
We are looking for an individual with excellent planning, organizational and communication skills. The role is ideal for an individual who has been in a patient facing role previously, holds the HEE Care Certificate and is confident in the hospital setting. Previous clinical research experience is highly desirable and further training is provided and encouraged.
The role involves taking a leading role on questionnaire or observational research studies including consenting patients for clinical research and providing clinical, data management and administrative support. The post holder will be based within a team of research nurses and practitioners so will need to be able to work well within a team, and autonomously at times, to ensure the effective management and delivery of the research portfolio.
The post holder will work in collaboration with the R&D consultant lead, Research Matron, Principal Investigators and research support staff, to ensure compliance with Trust Policy, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HTA and other relevant requirements.
The R&D Department at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTFT) is one of the focal points for innovative research in London through its nationally recognised research portfolio and research infrastructure. We are systems leaders in NHS research with strong strategic partnerships across the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) and the Health Research Authority (HRA) and are active members of the organisations such as the Shelford Group, University Hospitals Association (previously AUKUH) and UKR&D Leaders. Research is a top priority for the Trust in relation to establishing outstanding research infrastructure as well as in relation to the recruitment of participants into research studies.

Acting as patient and participant advocate at all times, the post holder will be expected to co-ordinate research clinics and organise study related care across a portfolio of studies in Gastro Medicine and Surgery. As part of a team, they will identify strategies to find and assist in the enrolment of research participants. The post-holder will perform a range of clinical assessments in line with accepted standards of practice. They will communicate effectively with the study and clinical teams to ensure good participant experience and adherence to study protocols. The post holder will be responsible for case report form completion, site file management and maintenance of databases. They will be responsible for ordering study supplies. The post holder will ensure the well-being of participants by adhering to relevant regulations and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations, Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care and the Human Tissue Act.
