A West Midlands Local Authority is recruiting for a Homeless Support Worker to provide an effective service to homeless people, by acting on their housing needs and offering information, advice and support to improve health and social wellbeing
**The Role**
The focus of this Homeless Support Worker role is to support residents who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to attain tenancy and social wellbeing, moving on in to accommodation and independent living. This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

- Undertakes the admission and interviewing of clients to assess, identify and act upon their housing needs and to offer support to improve health and social well-being.
- Ensure that accommodation charges are paid for by residents.
- Maintains routine and confidential records
- Ensures the maintenance, safety and security of the property and that all repairs are reported promptly.
- Maintains discipline, following approved guidelines, including eviction of service users following Council procedures.
- Undertakes administrative processes including report writing and statistical monitoring and maintaining accurate and up to date case records using the Microsoft Office package and internal databases.
- Maintains efficient and reliable liaison and co-operation with other individuals, agencies and community resources.
- Resolves conflict in difficult and sensitive situations, adhering to Council policy. Deals with emergency situations, involving management as required.
- Facilitates user groups involving external agencies as required.
- Assists with general domestic duties e.g. laundry work, cleaning and the provision of meals.

Too be considered for this Homeless Support Worker role you will require previous experience working within a supported housing setting, as well as with those threatened by homelessness. You will also need:

- Good knowledge of the issues affecting the homeless
- Knowledge of the housing benefits system
- Experience working in supported housing

**Due to the nature of clients you will be supporting in this role, you will require an enhanced DBS.**
**The Contract**
This is a temporary, Homeless Support Worker role, for an initial 3 months, though this is likely to be extended or potentially made permanent. The working hours are 0845 to 1715 Monday to Friday.
