by providing planned care and assistance. within defined parameters specified by the colleague's care plan to enable colleagues to have equitable access to the occupational setting.
Provide basic care to disabled colleague.

Meeting the care needs of the colleague with support needs whilst they are on-site or working away from home.

Assist in personal care of colleague with support needs and supporting them to access food and drink whilst working.

Ensure that any care provided is documented appropriately.

Ensure the colleague's dignity and individual needs are met.

Support the colleague when travelling to and from home environment including support with wheelchair use and transferring to and from vehicles.

Assistance in keeping working area safe, clean and tidy as required.

Assistance with basic admin tasks.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Clinical Practice
Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the wellbeing of colleagues for example apprenticeship team and Inclusion Team.
Delivery of care to designated colleagues, demonstrating an ability to prioritise such care.
Assist in the implementation of direct care for colleagues.
Determine the comfort of colleague by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport.
Assist in feeding and personal care of disabled colleagues if they are unable to do so
themselves.
Ensure that all care provided by yourself is documented appropriately.
Ensure colleague’s dignity and individual needs are met.
Instigate emergency procedures if required e.g. fire; CPR.
Act as an effective role model for all staff.
Assist in ensuring that effective channels are used to canvas the views and concerns of all
colleagues.
Responsible for high standards of cleanliness and follow all guidelines set by infection control policy.
Undertake training and practice of agreed clinical competencies in basic nursing skills for
designated area.
Work as an effective member of the team and support continued team development.

Maintaining the Environment
Assist in monitoring and maintenance of cleaning standards in the workplace.
Keep all work areas safe, clean and tidy conveying an appearance of a well-cared for, friendly and inviting ward e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards.
Carry out spot cleaning to ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
Keep all areas around colleagues are clean and tidy.
Ensure that all waste is correctly sorted into the appropriate waste streams and labelled.
Monitor and co-ordinate ad-hoc maintenance, liaising with the Estates Department Support Helpdesk as appropriate.
General Duties
Receive and pass on information to others, maintaining confidentiality.
Assist with the training of the new Colleague Support Workers into work routines to achieve required standards.
General duties, as agreed with the manager e.g. assisting with admin tasks
Clinical Governance
Participate in the Trust Appraisal and Personal Development Plan process in identifying your own development needs and agreeing development plans for these needs with a clinical supervisor/mentor.
Ensure awareness of when and how to report untoward incident
Ensure that your clinical practice is safe and appropriate at all times.
Ensure your required mandatory and competency based training is kept up to date.
Ensures that own actions support equality, diversity, rights and maintain quality.
Participate in the continued development of healthcare standards and service development.
