Out of Hours Shift Supervisor

The Hywel Dda University Health Board provides access to urgent primary care when daytime GP services are closed. The times of operation are 18:15-08:00 Monday to Friday and 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays.

The Out of Hours service is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic person to join the established team of Shift Supervisors. The role will be based at Withybush Hospital in the Out of Hours Call Centre.

The position is part time and all shifts will be in the out of hours period and predominantly evenings and weekends.

Previous experience is not essential as full training and mentorship will be provided.

As a Shift Supervisor you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the operational team, which is made up of drivers, receptionists, call handlers and HCSWs. The role is key to promoting patient safety through monitoring of Out of Hours activity and managing cases that have been passed from the 111 service. Communication with the clinical team is essential to facilitate efficient service delivery. On call leadership is available and can be contacted to escalate areas of risk or performance issues.

The post holder will ensure the safe transmission of patient information from 111 to the clinicians in the OOH Service.

The current shift pattern for this role involves a fixed 4 week rolling rota. The available shifts are Week 2 Tuesday evening and Sunday afternoon. Week 3 Tuesday evening and Sunday evening. Week 4 Friday evening and Sunday overnight. There are no shifts available in Week 1, but additional hours may be worked to cover annual leave and sickness.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
