**Purpose of the job**
To support and contribute to the network resources, communications, events and research work of HQN. This will include policy tracking and analysis, helping to identify and disseminate good practice, writing and commissioning briefings and supporting the planning and programming of events.
**Job description**
- Support the undertaking of research and development work that contributes to HQN briefings, events and content for members
- To write briefings, blogs and reports as required on new government policies relating to social housing in an engaging style that is precise, clear and concise and in a non-technical way
- Undertake research into selected policy issues and report on outcomes in order to advance our understanding and develop appropriate content for members
- To analyse data on issues such as tenant satisfaction measures and regulatory judgements pulling out relevant issues, identifying emerging issues and trends for members
- Contribute to development, maintenance, promotion and sharing of HQN’s information on good practice (including identifying and sourcing examples)
- Help plan events relevant to the sector, co-ordinating and organising the event when necessary with the rest of the team.
**Person specification**
- Experience and knowledge of research and policy work
- Knowledge of housing policy and wider social policy issues would be an advantage
- Ability to assimilate complex information and identify key issues for social housing organisations
- Ability to explain technical and often complex policy or legal changes to a wider audience
- Experience of use of Excel to analyse numerical data and produce tables and graphs for inclusion in reports, slides or briefings
- Knowledge and understanding of carrying out research surveys
- Good IT skills, with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).

**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: £14.10-£15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 21 per week
