Consultant Post in General Paediatrics with interest in Eating Disorders and Safeguarding
Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) is looking for two enthusiastic colleagues to join the department of General Paediatrics. We are offering two 10 PA substantive posts, following funding to establish new models of care for Eating Disorders and Safeguarding. This role will support the delivery of both inpatient and outpatient general paediatric and eating disorders services, and contribute to the Safeguarding Duty Consultant service. Applicants should have a CCT or equivalent in General Paediatrics or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview, or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register. A strong interest in Paediatric Eating Disorders is essential, and previous experience of working with young people with eating disorders is desirable. This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant paediatrician with an interest in safeguarding or for a paediatrician looking to enhance their safeguarding experience.
The BRHC is the paediatric major trauma centre for the South West region and is the only dedicated hospital for children in the South West of England. Bristol was voted best place to live in the UK in 2017 by the Sunday Times. It is a vibrant city with easy access to the countryside and coast of the Southwest of England and South Wales.
The post holders will form part of a newly created team of duty paediatric safeguarding consultants and will be supported by a dynamic team of named doctors, specialist safeguarding nurses and administrators within UHBW. The duty safeguarding consultant will be part of a duty safeguarding consultant rota with each consultant providing a minimum of 4 weeks a year as duty safeguarding consultant. Each duty consultant week will run from Friday to Friday, working 0900 - 1700 hrs Monday - Friday and 3 hours a day (provisionally 1000 - 1300 hrs) at weekends.
University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, with a workforce of over 13,000 staff and 100+ different clinical services across 10 sites, serving a population of over 500,000 people across Bristol and Weston. UHBW has been rated by the CQC as ‘Good’ overall and our staff are proud to deliver excellent care to patients. As a forward-thinking multi-award winning Trust, committed to improving patient care, our world-leading research and innovations are having a positive local and global impact.
Join us and you can enjoy city living, be in the countryside or by the seaside, with easy access to all the South West offers. UHBW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
It is important that you are aware that you may need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, for all patient facing roles and roles within patient facing areas (unless there is a clear medical reason or where there are other exceptional circumstances such as no requirement for occasional patient contact).
