**JOB TITLE**: Support Coordinator

**LOCATION**: NIC Instruments Ltd, Folkestone, Kent CT19 5NF

**Background**

NIC Instruments specialises in the design and manufacture of Bomb Disposal Equipment.

**1. Overall purpose of job**

a. This role will include reception & administration duties including production support, purchasing duties, inspection support to manufacturing and goods-inwards, as required, including; inspection of fabrications, machined components, sub-assemblies and final build assemblies, to analyse defects and to assist in implementing root cause analysis with a view of solving the defects at source and H&S.

b. Managing Goods Inwards the individual’s responsibilities will cover all reasonable administration duties and production support requirements, answering the telephone at all times, purchasing duties, product testing, first and final inspection, component inspection, reading drawings, using measuring equipment, visual inspection and calibration.

c. This will be an active role focused on ensuring the smooth day to day running of our Goods Inwards Department and supporting other departments.

d. It will also be part of this role to maintain an environment of continuous improvement and working practices.

e. This role includes production responsibilities including generating product paperwork in accordance with NIC systems and procedures, and ensuring that they are produced and stored according to company procedure.

**2. Main Duties**

a. Strategy: Ability to maintain an effective Goods Inwards & purchasing strategy, to make themselves aware of the product quality requirements, consulting samples if available prior to any inspection. Record results on relevant forms and computer.

b. Operational: Inspect all bought in parts to quality criteria as determined by drawings and purchase order. Endorse product and book into stores. Maintain a quality presence in all area's to include production, stores, goods inwards, Final Inspection, ensuring that procedures and processes are being followed to promote product Quality. Ensure that all measure and test equipment used is calibrated. Maintain high standards of H&S, carrying out checks and inspections. Transferring stock and using our Opera Database. To strategically manage the purchasing on a day to day basis.

c. Goods Inwards Schedules: Ability to update and recommend improvements as necessary ensuring that all change request documentation is complete before passing to Quality Department.

d. CNC machines & Assembly Shops: Ability to increase quality exposure in this department, ensuring all material is inspected; quality processes maintained and promote company H&S policy at all times.

f. Professional Development: The Company requires a driven, ambitious individual who wants to further develop their skills and career within Engineering & Supply Chain Management as they pursue their growth plans.

a. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook essential

b. Competency in using digital height gauges, verniers, callipers, micrometers and plug & ring gauges

c. Excellent telephone manner

d. Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written

e. Quality Control skills

f. Leading by example with hard working, flexible and professional approach

g. Contributing to Goods Inwards Projects

h. High levels of motivation and enthusiasm

i. Capable of working well in a team environment

j. Good at listening and following instructions

k. A positive attitude and co-operative, willing to comply with company policies and procedures

**2. Experience**

a. The successful applicant will have some experience within an engineering environment or office administration environment

b. Quality Control/Assurance experience not essential but desirable

**3. Qualifications**

a. GCSE pass grade for English and Maths or equivalent qualification
