Overview:
The Crofting Commission is responsible for the Regulation of Crofting, maintains a Register of Crofts and also advises Scottish Government on crofting issues.

The Customer Services Team is a centrally managed team and has responsibility for the delivery and smooth operation of the department’s corporate functions. These functions include mail collection and distribution, administrative functions, call handling and general enquiries. As the Crofting Commission is a small organisation, the post holders will be required to be flexible and may have to do other duties related to operational needs by working collaboratively with the rest of the Commission.

The Crofting Commission is an NDPB whose officials are provided by Scottish Ministers. The Commission acts in the regulation of crofting and aims to:

- Be an efficient and effective regulator
- Promote occupancy of crofts
- Promote active land use and shared management by crofters as a means of sustaining and enhancing rural communities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a first point of contact for call handling in the Commission
- Handle the opening, scanning and distribution of the Incoming Mail. Process Outgoing Mail ensuring it reaches the designated outgoing mail area within the timescale required.
- Handling of general enquiries including responding and distribution.
- Monitoring of newspaper articles, extracting/saving adverts and renew newspaper subscriptions.
- Provide other general administrative support as required including photocopying, scanning, binding, filing, mail merges, etc.

**Essential Criteria**
- The ability to plan, organise and prioritise demanding workloads to meet tight deadlines and to work flexibly to meet changing demands.
- Experience of working effectively with a team.
- Excellent communications skills, both orally and writing
- Experience and ability to utilise IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to collate and present information and to support data processing.
