Esol Tutor

**ESOL Tutor (This is not an EFL role) Based in Harrow**

Burleigh College is a GOOD OFSTED provider looking for a qualified ESOL teacher to plan and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to learners from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 so as to maximise achievement and support continuous improvement. If you are a Good or Outstanding teacher, and if you are able to teach very interactive and learner-centred lessons, this role might be for you.

**Responsibilities**:
To assess and teach ESOL principally to unemployed learners and to support their journey into work or other positive progressions

To plan and deliver interactive teaching sessions to inspire and motivate

To support other tutors with the ESOL needs of their learners where required

To help develop teaching and learning resources

To deliver diagnostic assessments and prepare Individual Learning Plans from the results of diagnostics

To review learners’ progress and give constructive feedback

To support the preparation of Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans with appropriate effective teaching and learning strategies, resources, and assessments.

To support the principles of effective learning by participating in the development of shared teaching and learning resources for ESOL.

To maintain attendance registers and records of progress

To undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and organisation development

To assess and mark learners’ work

To contribute to the effective implementation of the Quality Cycle.

To present the college in the best light at all times and ensure that all areas of personal activity comply with the standards laid down by the college and relevant outside agencies.

To carry out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety and e-safety requirements

To embed Fundamental British Values, Prevent, Safeguarding, and E-safety in lesson planning, Schemes of Work, and lesson delivery

To carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

**Requirements**:
A professional teaching qualification with ESOL as a specialism is required (a minimum of a CELTA qualification; preferably DTTLS/PGCE or DELTA).

Applicants must have experience of teaching in the funded sector and in the UK (not private language schools).

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out by Burleigh College before employment commences.
