**This is a work and study role. You will need to do college work alongside this role, however everything is delivered internally, you are not required to attend college. Please ensure you can work for 25-35 hours a week plus college work on top before applying.**
**This role is only suitable for people who have NO animal care qualifications and is an entry level role in the Animal Care Sector.**
**The main duties of the role are below, however full training will be given.**

**Main Duties**
- Care of the dog whilst using the Day School:
- Ensuring that their daily needs are met (i.e., if meals are to be given what and when, any dietary constraints), water is available at all times at various points.
- Performing Health Checks at the start and end of the day in order to identify any problems or conditions that need to be addressed. Highlighting these to the Day School Supervisor who, where necessary, will ensure the animals receive prompt complete care and treatment with the owner being contacted if needed
- Ensuring each dog receives adequate daily attention including facilitating dog-dog interaction, training, and behaviour rehabilitation
- Continual assessment at each visit to ensure that they are suitable to attend and, if in doubt speak to Day School Supervisor or the Training Centre Manager who will discuss a suitable outcome for both parties
- The dogs leave the centre in a clean condition and if necessary are bathed or brushed ready for pick up.
- Make sure all paperwork and forms are completed during the day.
- Health & Safety in the Day School
- The perimeter fence is checked daily to ensure the exterior compounds are safe and secure for use and reporting back where any repairs are needed and using alternative space until the repair is fully completed.
- The outside area is checked regularly during the day for “poo” and any is removed in line with our health and safety instructions
- High levels of cleaning and hygiene practices are upheld ensuring healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the dogs
- Ensure proper use of equipment such as cleaning tools, disinfectant, ladders and all other equipment provided.
- All hazardous and non
- hazardous substances are stored in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- All animal areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Regular checking of toys or equipment to ensure its suitability for use.
- Regular washing of toys where appropriate
- Adherence at all times to the centres health and safety policies and ensuring any volunteer working within the day school is fully aware of the requirements
- Ability to manage the various groups of dogs each day by selection and separation using the different areas in the centre whilst maintaining each dogs requirements/training plan.
- Maintaining the equipment and supplies to ensure proper care of the dogs.
- Adherence at all times to the centres health and safety policies and ensuring any volunteer working within the Day School is fully aware of the requirements.

- Training Plan
- drafted and specifically designed for each dog by the Supervisor on the enrolment, is maintained and updated regularly and ensuring colleagues working in the area are fully up to date with each dogs’ requirements/needs
- Training needs to be written on the board so visible to all to be removed when completed.
- Daily Timetable, working to the timetable to maximise your time and ensure all tasks are completed.
- Daily client report completed throughout the day and ready to hand to the owner on pick up. Any issues to be discussed with the Supervisor so they are aware and can be addressed.
- Make sure all license policies are always adhered to.
**Job Type**: Apprenticeship
Pay: £6.40 per hour
Expected hours: 25 - 35 per week
