Category Buyer

**What’s it all about?** - Develop and implement successful buying strategies to deliver to business requirements, specific objectives and targets within timelines as agreed. - Conduct sourcing activity for categories using the approved processes and e-sourcing platforms. - Support the P2P process from Procurement and champion the adoption of best practice within the team and wider business - Lead all governance assessments for Indirect category, including but not limited to; anti-bribery and corruption, data protection and modern slavery - Engage with business stakeholders to promote better buying skills and act as a Procurement ambassador within the company - Lead and/or represent the Procurement department on specific cross-functional projects and support the Procurement team on strategic activity outside of own portfolio of spend categories. - Represent the JDR Procurement department on specific cross-business activity with other businesses within the ABF Procurement community. - Ensure great supplier performance and relationship development through commercial relationships - Deliver optimal value for money from the company’s supplier expenditure whilst ensuring business needs are fully met. **Key Accountabilities** - Working with key stakeholders to develop and implement successful sourcing strategies to deliver business requirements and savings targets - To source indirect goods and services, using the approved processes and tools (including e-sourcing), ensuring transparent and competitive sourcing events are conducted in line with policy and procedures - Conduct robust and detailed spend analysis to identify areas of opportunity for value creation and identify risk - Working alongside our network of informal buyers to help the business to ‘Buy Better’ - Ensuring our suppliers meet our high standards and deliver additional value through strong supplier management practice - To lead and/or represent the procurement department on specific cross-functional projects. - Implement robust contracts and agreements and monitor Supplier performance to contract with selected suppliers for their categories - Ensure business risks are understood and managed as far as possible (supply, CSR/ethics, governance etc.) for their spend categories. - To take responsibility for current and future budgets for own category areas and provide updates on category performance against these budgets. - Acting in a safe manner to protect the health and safety of yourself and others at all times. - Playing a supporting role in managing ethical risk and opportunity **What does "great" look like?** - Great Judgement_ - Confident approach with stakeholders, building credibility quickly but willing to listen to others - Takes initiative and has a proactive/self-starter approach - Sound judgement on decision making and when to escalate - Able to balance time effectively and use a structured approach to identifying priorities - People Focused_ - Shows good interpersonal skills and a team player, supporting within own and wider team - Applies value for money approach in all activities - Understands the business needs and seeks to fulfil these in the most cost-effective manner - Demonstrates effective stakeholder management in order to fulfil business needs - Uses strong influencing skills to deliver value for the business - Operates in a manner which encourages consultation and communication from others. - Action Orientated_ - Results oriented focus ensures delivery of business benefits - Delivers to time and quality on all projects/areas of responsibilities - Passionate about our brands. **Experience and Skills** - Achieved significant cost savings/service improvements using traditional and creative procurement approaches whilst maintaining service and quality. - Analytical/Problem-solving skills - Negotiating and defining contract terms - Project management - Category Management sourcing process knowledge - E-Procurement methodology - Change management.
