HGV Fitter / HGV Technician
Location: Elstree / Borehamwood

** Job Purpose**:
To maintain, service, and repair a fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they are roadworthy, safe, and compliant with DVSA regulations.

** Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of HGVs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Conduct MOT preparations and inspections.
- Complete vehicle inspections and safety checks (PMIs).
- Maintain accurate service records and job sheets.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Respond to breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required.
- Liaise with parts suppliers and order necessary components.

** Required Qualifications & Experience**:

- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- Proven experience as an HGV technician/fitter.
- Valid UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 preferred).
- Good understanding of DVSA standards and vehicle compliance.
- Experience with diagnostic equipment and software.

** Desirable Skills**:

- IRTEC accreditation.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

** Working Conditions**:

- Workshop-based with occasional roadside assistance.
- May involve shift work, weekends, or on-call duties.
