**The Role**
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an animal care assistant to join our friendly and supportive team here at The Veterinary Centre
Daily duties include patient admits, patient care, stock management and ordering, ensuring a high standard of practice hygiene, and lab work.
You will work 40 hours per week, which will include a 1 in 4 Saturday shift on average.
We are looking for a full-time temporary member to cover maternity leave for a period of one year, with the possibility for a permanent position thereafter.
A salary of up to £21,749 dependent on experience is on offer.
**About Us**
The Veterinary Centre is a friendly and supportive team at a busy practice. Our building is spacious and bright allows a lot of light into the consult rooms and has a large garden to take our patients out in, and to run our puppy socialisation classed.
Having recently gone through extensive renovations, we are excited to announce an array of modern facilities and equipment. With a new operating theatre and hospital ward built, we also have access to ultrasonography, x-ray facilities, state of the art blood analysers, dental machines, laser therapy facilities and microscope equipment to name a few This means you will gain plenty of valuable experience in working with equipment commonly found with in a vet practice. Such experience can be invaluable and provide a strong basis for progressing on to veterinary nurse training if you so desire.
As a practice we also have a wellbeing champion and regularly host practice events such as step challenges, practice meetings with pizza, and staff nights out.
We are a team of 7 vets, 6 nurse, 2 student nurses, 3 animal care assistants, 1 manager and 4 receptionists.
**Applicant Requirements**
- Previous experience working with animals desirable but not essential.
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Able to work on own at times
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Able to remain calm at times of stress when dealing with multiple patients.
