**Role Purpose**

The purpose of a **rigging assistant** is to provide support to the Rigging Department by assisting in the installation of live events and exhibitions within the NEC. This will include the transportation and installation of rigging equipment such as hoists, truss and drape. The role also extends to include operation of rigging control equipment to support the build-ups and breakdowns, to ensure the safe and efficient lifting and lowering operations. Their duties may also include the inspection, maintenance and stock taking of rigging equipment.

**About the role**

Rigging assistants will develop skills that will enable them to help set up, operate and breakdown live events and exhibitions. This will involve helping to install hoists, truss and curtains as well as supporting the rigging department in lifting and lowering operations. Rigging Assistants must have a good understanding of safety procedures and have excellent communication skills to work effectively with other crew members.

**Summary**

The rigging assistant will be responsible for providing assistance to the Rigging team in safe and efficient execution of rigging tasks. You will be expected to work closely with the Rigging team to ensure its safe and efficient operation, as well as transporting rigging equipment across site and assisting with the assembly and disassembly of rigging equipment. You must also learn to be able to read and interpret rigging plans and diagrams, show a working knowledge of rigging safety procedures and also be able to work independently where required to ensure groundwork tasks are completed. As a rigging assistant, you must be able to work well within a team environment and have a good attitude, good communication skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment whilst demonstrating safe practices.

- Knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment

- Ability to work as part of a team

**Requirements**:

- Able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of safety procedures and rigging standards
- Full UK drivers license
