Harrogate, United Kingdom Katie Sweep Full time

We’re on the lookout for another amazing person based in the Harrogate, Leeds or Wetherby area to join our female led sweep team. We have an opening for a trainee chimney sweep to be a part of our growing and well established chimney sweeping business.

**What can you expect from being a Chimney Sweep?**:
Every day and every job is unique, you’ll meet a whole host of different people and get to drive and visit some incredible places across the Harrogate, Leeds and Wetherby areas.

Chimney sweeping is a very traditional job but we are always embracing the modern day aspects of what it means to be a chimney sweep, incorporating the best and latest equipment, digital software, new vehicles and branded workwear. All our team are trained to build their skills and knowledge both in house and through industry training courses and improve their competencies over time to make them a great chimney sweep.

There’s no escaping it, being a chimney sweep is a physically demanding job, and even with the best PPE you will get a little grubby but with anything new you’ll soon get into the swing of things and it is hugely rewarding work.

**How will you become a fully-fledged chimney sweep?**

We’ll start with in house training, you’ll come out with different members of the sweep team to learn on the job, picking up the know-how steadily until you are able to get more hands on and start sweeping under supervision. Katie will be keeping a close eye on how you’re progressing, and when you both feel you’re ready for it, you’ll attend the NACS training course in Stone, Staffordshire to complete the 4 day Chimney Sweeping Course. When that has been completed you will have an onsite assessment in order to gain membership to the National Association of Chimney Sweeps which we have no doubt you’ll pass with flying colours as you’ll already have the backing of real, in-depth training with us. You’ll also receive on-going training and support throughout your sweeping career, and for the right person the potential to develop your role within the company.

**Our new sweep will require**:

- Full UK drivers license (no more than 6 points)
- The confidence to work unsupervised after a suitable training period.
- Logical thinking and able to problem solve.
- Adaptable to various environments.
- A good local knowledge of our area of work.
- Be able to communicate clearly to customers and deliver technical information in an easy to understand manner.
- It also really helps if you don’t mind customers dogs, cats and kids (they often like to try and help, that’s the animals more than the kids)

**The pay structure**:
During training, which we anticipate to be around 3 months depending on progress made, you’ll be salaried at circa £17,290 pa (pro rata), once out on your own you’ll be paid circa £25,740 pa based on 6 chimneys a day, 5 days of the week with scope for overtime during our busy period.

**What else do we offer**:
28 days holiday pay included (we are closed between Christmas and New Year)
Training costs covered (terms apply)
Pension included
Works van to start your day from home
All branded hi quality workwear and PPE included
iPad provided

**Next Step**:
We don’t expect to find people out there with prior chimney sweeping experience, we’re looking for somebody who wants something a little bit different from their normal day to day work. Please do get in contact if you’re interested in this unique career opportunity, send over your CV and a few reasons why you feel you’d be perfect for the role.

We look forward to hearing from you
