The Council’s Waste team provides high profile waste collection, cleansing and disposal services to the residents, businesses and visitors of Cornwall. Our services are used by all residents and visitors and are delivered to a consistently high standard.

We form part of the overall waste service and are a small, friendly, customer-focused team who pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service across all aspects of waste management, as well as providing support to the wider team.

We deliver high quality waste services to the residents of Cornwall and it is important to us that we continue to build on our current levels of service provided.

This is a varied role working alongside three other similar posts. You will be a key player identifying where improvements are required to our processes so that they run smoothly and efficiently between our customers, the Council's Contact Centre, our officers and contractors.

**About the role**

Our waste collection service is changing significantly next year and we are looking for a new team member, to join us initially for 12 months, to help support the team whilst we work towards this change.

Additional duties will include organising and minuting stakeholder meetings and assisting in the delivery of specific service improvement projects.
- Full training will be given in the use of our customer relationship management system, our contractor's system and our web content management system
- You will primarily be working from home although occasional hot desking is available from some office locations within Cornwall
- Working hours are 37 hours per week and we operate a flexible working policy. However, as we provide customer support 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, start and finish times will vary through informal agreement with other members of the team to ensure cover is available between those times day to day
- All ICT equipment and any office furniture required to support home working will be provided

Previous experience in a customer services environment is desirable but not essential however as this is a customer facing role, you will need to be a clear communicator, an active listener and be able to show patience, empathy and respect at all times. An NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent previous experience in an administrative role is desirable.

You will need to bring to the role:

- excellent MS Office skills particularly in the use of Outlook, Word and Excel
- experience of organising and supporting meetings
- good problem-solving skills

- commitment to serve our customers
- enthusiasm and pride in your work
- an essential requirement of the role is that you have access to the internet to enable you to work from home, the cost of which is not covered by Cornwall Council. To ensure you are able to access our systems effectively you will need a broadband connection with a minimum download speed of 16 mbps and upload speed of 2 mbps or be willing to have this in place before taking up the position
