Principal Medical Writer

Axiom is seeking an** Principal Medical Writer **with a passion for scientific engagement to lead the development and delivery of high-quality and creative content for our healthcare accounts, driving and promoting our processes for excellence and delighting clients through the accuracy, creativity and effectiveness of our deliverables, ensuring they meet the needs of the client, audience and brand.

You will build strong internal relationships and trusted client relationships of Axiom's capability as a high-quality scientific and creative partner that meets long
- and short-term objectives, within target timeframes and of commercial value to both the client and the business.

You will be joining our UK team, who **produce award-winning creative and scientific communications **for our EU pharmaceutical clients. Our services include strategic communications planning and creative execution of internal engagement and field team training programmes, as well as HCP and patient engagement and educational programmes and materials.

Our office is based in Manchester, however we will provide the opportunity to work flexibility between the office and from home.

**Responsibilities**

**Leading content development**
- Lead and oversee writing teams in the development of accurate, creative and effective content, ensuring our deliverables are engaging, well written and accurate
- Work collaboratively with Medical Writers, Editors, and Client Services to ensure we meet the needs and objectives of the client, audience and brand
- Drive and promote our processes for excellence, both internally and with clients
- Hold responsibility for all scientific/medical content generated within designated project teams, acting as a final signatory for all relevant content before distribution to clients

***Team leadership and client relationships**
- Build strong internal relationships, collaborating with internal Client Services team, other Scientific Team members.
- Proactively provide guidance and mentoring to the medical writing team across designated accounts
- Provide line management and associated guidance to more junior Scientific Team members
- Assist in the planning and management of resource across the Scientific Engagement Team
- Build strong and trusted client relationships, internally and externally championing Axiom's capability as a high-quality scientific and creative partner

***Business development**
- Partner with Client Services counterparts to respond to RFPs and identify/create opportunities for organic growth
- Monitor commercial market and therapeutic landscape relevant to our clients and their products, and provide insight/updates/interpretation to internal team members and to our clients as appropriate
- Act as an internal scientific consultant to other departments with TCEG, providing insight and expertise that can supplement existing internal capabilities, bring added scientific credibility to our work, and exploit opportunities for 'white space' growth
- Stay abreast of the medical communications landscape and champion Axiom/TCEG's unique offering within the market

**Requirements**:

- Educated to higher degree level (MSc, PharmD, PhD, MD) in life sciences or pharmacology
- Minimum 4 years of previous medical communications agency experience; this role is ideal for an experience Principal Medical Writer looking for the next step in their career
- Experience in creating and developing content for diverse project types, from highly scientific to highly creative, and appropriate for different audience, including HCPs, patients and payers
- Experience as scientific team lead for multiple project teams: leading and managing teams of medical writers while also overseeing content development and business growth
- Experienced or passionate in writing for creative and/or diverse media (e.g. slides, print, website, app, audio, video, e-learning assets)
- Previous pivotal roles in new business development, including proposal development and pitching
- Open to new/innovative ideas, proactive and highly collaborative team player, a positive problem solver, customer-service orientate
- Line management experience

**Desired knowledge, skills and abilities**
- Ability to marry high science with high creativity; to collaborate with creative teams and champion the scientific elements of projects and outputs
- Experience in chronic and/or rare disease desirable
- Ability to think strategically on individual projects and across accounts/business development
