Extra hrs to cover for other staffs Annual leave and sickness

support worker required to support and assist a lady who has a learning disability with some aspects of personal care /socialising/housework

Driver preferred, but not essential.

Previous experience working in a care environment, a knowledge of learning disability, epilepsy and rescue medication awareness would be helpful, but good listening skills, a person-centred approach and the ability to recognise and promote independence are considered equally important, as training particular to the person supported will be given in relation to health matters.

It is important to recognise that the care and support you may be employed to assist with will be provided within her home and out with, therefore confidentiality and respect for her privacy and the importance she places on this being her home should be regarded as being of the utmost importance.

The tasks you may be required to do will vary, according to her needs and health, and could include the following:
PERSONAL TASKS:
Help with Bathing, Drying

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

Help with dressing

Assistance with nail care, oral hygiene

Assistance with foot care

Assistance washing, drying, styling hair

HOUSEHOLD TASKS:
These will be completed on a regular basis throughout the week or when needed:
**Cooking** and Preparing a meal, sandwich, drinks, keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, mopping floor

Household cleaning, which will include the bathroom, bedrooms etc

Laundry, Ironing

Changing Bedding

Dusting, Hoovering

GENERAL TASKS: Done as and when required

Going to the local shops / assisting with shopping

Reporting any faults with any equipment used to family/ council

Cooking and preparing food for her and possibly visitors ( dependant on any current Government restrictions)

Light household maintenance e.g changing a light bulb using the appropriate equipment e.g ladders.

Light gardening such as weeding/brushing paths etc

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES / OUTINGS: You may be required to assist her - (dependent on any current Government restriction) with the following

Meeting Friends/Family

Assisting with Leisure Activities

Going out in the evenings

Driving --- May include using your own vehicle

Eating Out

Going to the cafe/restaurant for lunch/ shopping

Going on Trains for days out.

Personal Assistant Hours and Days of Work:
The post available will include mornings, Afternoons, Evenings and Weekends, to cover other staffs A/L or sickness, at times may include a sleepover

The Wage rate is £10.02 for any hours worked

Wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears straight in to your bank

use of PPE and lateral flow testing kits will form part of the role

**This Job Description is not set in stone and may change in the future according to her needs.

There is a 6 month probationary period attached to the post, with a 1 weeks’ notice if the post is not working out.

Successful applicant will have to supply 2 up to date reference contacts and willing to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme (cost will be met by the employer )

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
