Senior Dual Diagnosis Practitioners

1 week ago

Manchester, United Kingdom Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dual Diagnosis Practitioner to join a dynamic team across the Greater Manchester (GM) foot print as part of the Housing First project.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) are subcontracted by Great Places to provide a Dual Diagnosis service across the Housing First project (HF). The service has two elements;
**1. Clinical**: Appropriate clinical resource integrated into the Housing First Service. This resource will either negate the need for people to access wider services or will enable swifter access into existing services.

**2. Training**: Focus on developing the capacity of the Housing First team through training and supervision so that they are more equipped to deal with people with dual needs on a day-to-day, non-clinical basis.

This project is targeted at people facing multiple needs and exclusion particularly those who have been identified as at severe risk of harm should an early intervention not be forthcoming.

**The post will cover**: Zone D: Salford, Trafford and Wigan

**Applications are welcome from**: Social Workers, Nurses and Mental Health practitioners.

Flexible hybrid working will be considered.

The post holder will lead on providing expert dual diagnosis knowledge to members of the project team and key stakeholders and partners, giving highly specialist supervision, advice and consultation on dual diagnosis care to non-dual diagnosis/substance misuse colleagues across the HF, at the same time as offering assessment and intervention for highly complex cases if required, and working autonomously within professional guidelines

The post holder will work with colleagues of all disciplines within the HF teams to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in working with people with dual diagnosis, promoting understanding of the effect that mental health problems and substance use can have on individuals, their families and the wider community, e.g. risk to physical health, incidence of hospital admissions/presentation in crisis, safeguarding adults, achieving and maintaining recovery and involvement in the criminal justice system.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.

Greater Manchester is one of the world's most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work. From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.
