**About the role**

This is a high-profile role, operating on the Leadership Team within Consulting and reporting to the Head of Consulting. You will act as a strong internal leader, overseeing a large team of experienced professionals with a wide range of skills, from diverse backgrounds. You will provide a reassuring external presence, improving our market presence with thought leadership and acting as an escalation point on projects.

As the Head of Strategy you will directly lead our Strategy team within Consulting, and over time line manage the Team Leads for other capabilities that work with Strategy to deliver projects for our clients (Insight, Experience Design). You will be accountable for ensuring we have the right size team, the right skills, and expertise to deliver great work for clients profitably.

**What you'll do**:

- Ensure we have a clear structure, in line with the Consulting vision, with clear reporting lines and good ways of working across the team
- Embed a culture of high performance and commercial thinking across the team
- Implement and share tools and frameworks to help our team deliver higher quality work efficiently
- Enhance our approach to business development and increase our win rate with clients
- Ensure we are developing people appropriately, building and acquiring the right skills now and for the future
- Develop and implement a clear competency framework, helping team members know what is expected at each level and what is required in order to progress within the team
- Establish good ways of working with other teams across Avalere Health
- Work with our Practice Area Leads to ensure exceptional delivery of projects and high quality thought leadership/IP is developed
- Work with our Senior Operations Director to ensure our ways of working, pricing, commercial and project management are first class
- Work with our Resource Manager to ensure we have the right people resourced to projects at the right team, to meet client and business demands

**About you**:

- Significant experience of running a successful and growing Consulting organisation, or large Consulting team within a broader organisation, overseeing revenues in the region of $15-20m per annum
- Successful track record of growing Commercial Strategy Consulting teams, retaining high calibre staff and developing junior team members
- Successful track record of senior client relationship management (C-suite) and new business growth (multi-million dollars per year).
- Experience coaching and mentoring very senior members of the team and developing/managing across levels of experience
- Experience delivering projects across Avalere Health’s core Practice Areas (Business Transformation, Early Stage Strategy, Go to Market, Brand Experience & Engagement)
- Extensive internal change management experience, helping guide teams through new organisational structures, operating models and systems
- Ability to take ownership of challenging workstreams and situations, delivering exceptional results
- Strong leadership behaviours, supporting a culture of diversity and inclusion, collaboration and accountability individually and across the team
