Pastoral Assistant

You will ideally have experience working with young people with social, communication difficulties and/or social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and will understand their developmental needs and what providing good quality pastoral care entails. You will have good listening skills, will work well in a team, will be flexible in your approach as/when the need arises and will possess good organisational and communication skills.
The role entails, amongst other aspects:
- Developing positive relationships with young people
- Helping our young people access the curriculum/learning opportunities
- Providing 1:1 support where needed to encourage/support pupils back on programme
- Supporting pupils in self-regulating their emotions in order that they are in a
- Developing your skills, liaising with other professionals
- Helping our young people access trips and rewards
- Helping our young people develop and, where possible maintain, friendships
Key qualities that we would hope you possess include being nurturing, patient, considerate and approachable. Resilience and commitment to supporting our young people to achieve their goals are also desirable attributes.
