We are offering a talented and enthusiastic Undergraduate or Postgraduate placement as a Copy Editor to support our external marketing and communications across the Computacenter Group. Based in London you will join a small team of likeminded individuals supporting French translation of publicised written communications for a variety of uses including websites, social media, transcripts, news articles and more.
- So, what do we do?_

The Translation Service is a global function, responsible for making sure that our translated content is accurate, impactful and matches Computacenter’s style across languages. We use state-of-the-art digital translation tools - you will be the human factor to make sure that the messaging has the right impact.

As the Copy Editor you will be responsible for taking machine-translated copy and ensuring its accuracy, clarity, and consistency with our tone of voice. This role involves reviewing and editing articles, reports, marketing materials, and other written content. You will collaborate closely with writers, editors, and other team members to maintain high standards of quality and precision in all published materials.

The role is ideally suited to someone who is studying a marketing associated degree and is in their 2nd year of university or undertaking a Masters, and would like to gain valuable work experience within the corporate world to supplement their learnings at university. Experience, either as part of your degree or in your personal life, in Copy Editing/translating would be a great advantage. You should have a desire to work in an autonomous role, taking responsibility for your performance and to help drive up quality at every step.

**What you’ll do**
- **Content editing and quality assurance**:

- Proofread and edit content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style consistency.
- Ensure tone, clarity, and flow of written materials.
- Maintain and enforce adherence to house style guides and editorial standards.
- Identify and correct inconsistencies and errors in content.
- Fully translate certain document types which cannot be machine translated.
- **Collaboration**:

- Work closely with writers and other editors to refine and improve content.
- Provide constructive feedback to writers to enhance the quality of their work.
- Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Maintain organised records of edited content and revisions.
- Help the team manage the processes around translation and review.

**What you’ll need**
- Fluent in French with excellent command of the written language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Be able to showcase a portfolio of edited written work.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for errors.
- Ability to learn about the language from new areas, technologies or industries.
- Understanding of editorial and proofreading tools (e.g., Microsoft suite, Grammarly).
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
