Shrewsbury, United Kingdom MacIntyre Charity Full time

**Would you love to work Part-time, during the days Thursday, Friday and the Weekends?**

**Are you a sporty type with a love of hiking? How about cooking and baking? Could you find creative ways to work with three men who have a learning disability?**

You'll join us as a Support Worker as we build the team ready to open a new supported living service in Shrewsbury. The house will be home to three men with a wide range of interests. David enjoys nothing more than a hike around local National Trust properties, or looking after animals. Jerry also has a very active lifestyle, enjoying visits to the gym, playing rounders and other sports. Last but by no means least, Malcolm* loves cooking and baking, and one day hopes to work in Catering; he's moving out of his parents' house and is looking forward to gaining more independence.

Can you see yourself encouraging these three different men to enjoy their interests and learn new skills as they move into their new home? We're all thrilled to be part of their next adventure, why not come and join us?

These three gentlemen all have different learning disabilities. David don't communicate using words, so we'll teach you to use Makaton sign language. As you get to know each other though, you'll find lots of ways to understand one another just fine, whether that's through body language, a smile or laughter, as well as signing.

**About you**

Experience isn’t necessary to become a Support Worker. If you have the right attitude, good customer service skills, share our values and are willing to learn, you’re likely to be a great fit. We are looking for people who celebrate differences, and we strive to make all our staff feel included, valued and respected.

Drivers with a manual licence is preferred, as you will be driving service vehicles, especially as lockdown lifts and we are able to get out and about more.

**About us**

MacIntyre is a national charity which supports over 1,200 people with a learning disability and/or autism.

We were founded in 1966 by the visionary parent of a child with disabilities and have been growing steadily ever since. We celebrate and develop everyone’s unique gifts, talents and contributions.

**Training and Development**

At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of eLearning, face-to-face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.

But it doesn't stop there - throughout your career with us you will have access to our own dedicated in house Learning and Development team, Quality Specialists and HR Teams. These teams, along with your Manager, will provide you with opportunities to learn and develop professionally as well as enabling and supporting you to achieve professional qualifications and career progression opportunities - all free of charge.

We want our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and the people we support. As part of this commitment, our accessibility toolbar allows you a number of options: read adverts in another language (including Welsh for our Services located in Wales), change the font to Open Dyslexia, change the colours, and many others.
