DevOps Apprentice

EDF run our cloud platforms in Azure and AWS. You will learn how to effectively operate these cloud platforms at scale. Focussed on either AWS or Azure you will rotate through the AWS or Azure Cloud Platform teams and the DevOps Platform team. Throughout your time on the scheme, you’ll work closely with the Technical Leads, Product Owners and Engineering partners within the Enterprise IT Cloud Services Team.

You’ll be classified as a remote worker and ideally be based in the South West. Travel to our EDF offices will be required.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Developing functional and maintainable platform solutions to meet the Product Owner’s requirements and the organisational coding standards
- Working in partnership with the Security Engineers to ensure security best practice and automation is baked into the platform at all levels
- Communicating outcomes from development activities to team members and other stakeholders
- Monitoring the platform service level indicators (SLI's) and building solutions that improve overall performance against them
- Contributing to development of new and existing policies, standards, and other documents
- Following the company development processes including management of source control, testing and the release processes
- Practicing continuous guided self-learning to keep up to date with technological developments

**You will need the following skills**:

- A passion for, and awareness of DevOps and/or Platform Engineering, for example current trends and best practices
- An understanding of cloud and digital technologies and how that can be applied to support customer value and bring business benefits
- Customer-centric mindset
- Good communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
- Able to travel within the UK (primarily Southern England)

**Entry requirements**:

- Level 3 Software apprenticeship
- OR BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test
- OR two years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our Aptitude Test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

**Working week**:
37.5 hours per week
