£13.25 per hour during probationary period, rising to £13.60

About the employer

I am a male, 50 something year old amputee (HIP) who uses crutches and a wheelchair.

A personal assistant is sought to support me with my daily living activities my continued independent life enabling me to enjoy my pastimes and also to assist in my leisure opportunities & activities.

Main Duties
- Assist with daily living activities including Gardening, shopping, DIY and facilitating a household overall including some animal care (Cats) where necessary.
- I love to cook meals for me and my wife, help in the kitchen to facilitate this i.e. gathering ingredients for me to use and clearing away after.
- Supporting me with attendance of occasional, local outpatient appointments.
- Accompanying on local shopping trips and outings.
- I do drive myself but on occasion you may need to drive my car. Therefore, driving licence essential. Car preferable as no public transport to where I live.
- Good physical condition and must be able to lift up to 15kg unaided, to get my manual wheelchair in and out of the boot.
- I am independent of Personal care but on occasion may require support i.e., finding clothing, emptying waste etc.
- Any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

Additional employment information

The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively in English, be friendly, able to give empathetic support, while respecting the employer’s independence but also able to take instruction.

Must be flexible, trustworthy, a good timekeeper and active with a good sense of humour.

Please note you will be directly employed by the person (or their representative) that you will be assisting. The Council is **not** the employer.
