Network Manager

We are working with a well respected multi academy trust to find them a Network Manager to provide 1st and 2nd line IT support in their dynamic secondary school in Manchester.
This is a hands-on role in a state-of-the-art building. As the most senior IT specialist on-site you will have the autonomy to suggest ideas, make improvements and oversee projects.
You will have responsibility for a two IT Technicians and report to the IT Area Manager. The academy trust network means there are other IT specialists you can call upon for support and advice when needed.
This role would suit someone with line management/supervisory experience, strong technical ability and the aptitude to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
**Key Details**:
- £25k - £28.5k.
- Outstanding pension. Employer contributions paid at 18.2%.
- Hours are 08:00 to 16:00 with a 30-minute lunch.
- Monday to Friday.
- All year round.
- Evening, weekend, and bank holiday working is rare.
- The school usually closes completely over Christmas.
**IT Support Department**:
- Three-person department; this role plus an IT Technician
- Reporting to the IT Area Manager.
- Technicians in other schools across the trust.
**Duties of the Network Manager**:
- Support the IT Area Manager to create IT reports for the monthly reporting cycle.
- Line manage two technicians.
- Oversee the provision of IT Systems across the school to ensure high availability and suitable performance.
- Responsible for meeting all SLA measures for the IT Service across the school.
- Providing 1st and 2nd Line IT support to staff and pupils.
- Manage all support calls for daily operation of the various network services including Access Controls, CCTV network, Cashless Catering, MIS systems, Cloud solutions etc
- Support & Development of ICT systems such as Active Directory / DHCP / DNS within a Windows Server infrastructure P Technical knowledge on Google Apps or Office 365, Windows 8+, Office 2013+, Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware virtualized environments, HP & Dellserver/switch hardware.
- Provide advice and guidance on the use of ICT systems.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of all workstations, printers, projectors, and other devices connected to the network either through onsite repairs or working together with 3rd party companies.
- Help with software updates and patches to ensure IT Infrastructure is secure and up to date, some of these will take place after core hours or weekends.
- Installation of hardware and software.
- Ensure robust data backup systems are in place and undertake periodic testing of the systems.
**The Network Manager Must Have Experience in**:
- The management and troubleshooting of networked systems.
- Service management methodologies (FITS/ ITIL or similar).
- Active Directory / DHCP / DNS within a Windows Server infrastructure P Technical knowledge on Google Apps or Office 365, Windows 8+, Office 2013+
- Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware virtualized environments
- HP & Dell server/switch hardware.
- Network systems, their installation and maintenance and adaptation
- AV equipment.
- Implementing IT systems change.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems.
- Guiding non-technical staff in their use of IT equipment.
- Using a service desk tool.

**The Network Manager Must**:
- Have a minimum of three years' experience in an IT support role.
- Have line management/supervisory experience.
- Have experience of managing a helpdesk.
- A relevant IT qualification.
- Have an approachable manner and effective communication skills.
- Able to build effective working relationships and work in a team.
- Be organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Be able to work under pressure when needed, whilst maintaining a sense of humour.
- Be able to demonstrate delivery of outstanding customer service.
- Have high levels of personal and professional integrity
- Have a facilitative approach to problem-solving and a 'can do' mind set.
Experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
