Skilled Fitter

We are currently recruiting **4x Shift Skilled Fitters **to join our team on a fixed term basis (12 month FTC).

**Location**: Cardiff

**Salary**:£15.58/h (inclusive of 20% shift allowance) - £29,165.76/year

**Working hours**: 36h/ week (any hours worked above 36h/week will be classed as overtime and paid accordingly)

**Work schedule**:
Week one: Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 2:00pm; Friday 6:00am - 12:00pm

Week two: Monday - Thursday 2:00pm - 10:00pm; Friday 12:00Pm - 6:00pm

**The key responsibilities for this role are**:
**1.0 General**:
1.1 Follow the relevant instructions, diagrams and any other specifications for overhauling traction and rolling stock components.

1.2 Ensure that the specified components are available and that they are in a usable condition and comply with organisation’s procedures for quality control.

1.3 Use the appropriate methods and techniques to disassemble/assemble the components.

1.4 Secure the components using the specified connectors and securing devices.

1.5 Check the completed disassembly/assembly to ensure that all activities have been completed and the finished disassembly/assembly meets the required specification/ operational tolerances.

1.6 Deal promptly with problems within own area of responsibility and report those that cannot be resolved.

1.7 Take precautions to prevent damage to components, tools and equipment during removal or replacement.

1.8 Check the condition of the removed components and record those that will require replacing.

1.9 Ensure the proper labelling and storing of the removed components in a designated location in line with organisational procedures.

1.10 Store or discard the removed components in line with organisational procedures.

1.11 Report any instances where the equipment fails to meet the required performance after adjustments or where there are identified defects outside the required adjustments.

1.12 Maintain documentation in line with the organisation’s procedures.

**2.0 Health & Safety**

2.1 Comply with safe systems of work for the task in line with organisational procedures and work to the system.

**3.0 Quality**

3.1 Ensure that all work carried out is in line with organisational quality management system.

**4.0 General**

4.1 Participate as and when required in team and one-to-one meetings, and undertake, as appropriate, courses/training/other developmental activities, relevant to the role.

4.2 Keep up to date with developments within the Company and other sector-wide practices, that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant internal/external factors e.g. Company policies and procedures, quality management standards, Health & Safety.

4.3 Ensure, in the course of employment, complete confidentiality is maintained in respect of the Company, its dealings, transactions, and all other information relating to clients/ customers, staff etc.

4.4 Demonstrate commitment to the aims and objectives of the Company and the implementation of its Equal Opportunities policy in the workplace.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined, you must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity change the general character or level of responsibility to the post.
