**About the role**:
We are currently seeking an Office Technical Specialist to work out of our Slough Offices. In this role you will be responsible for giving quality advice, guidance as well as technical decision making for reactive works within Waste Networks across the region.
As the Successful applicant, your role will be at the heart of day-to-day operations with field teams calling for advice and guidance, as well as ensuring the right work is raised at the right time. This is a chance to work as part of a team that is not onlyinvolved in the day-to-day work of Thames Water, but will also give you the opportunity to be part of strategic projects that help shape the future of the business. The role will allow you to grow your knowledge, learning about and gaining an understandingof exciting new and innovative technology being used in the waste industry.
The Office Technical Specialist function is to ensure contractors carry out the right checks and that balances are in place for our money to be spent wisely.
**Key accountabilities include**:

- Raising and signing off on planned and remedial work for the waste network balancing whether the work is operationally beneficial, cost effective and delivers for the customer.
- Coordinate both reactive and complex planned technical activities to ensure maximum effectiveness and mínimal customer impact.
- Provide technical support to determine solutions to problems and ensure a robust, stable and efficient network via phone calls and electronic work reviews
- Reviewing customer cases to help provide clear feedback to the customer about their issues and tailor making packages of work to suit.
- Deciding on how to best mitigate a situation to ensure our network and?assets?have the least environmental impact
- Working closely alongside Civil Engineers to find the most cost effective solutions, whether that is a solution that prolongs the networks life or upgrades it, to resolve wastewater issues.

**To be successful you will have the following skills and experience**:

- An understanding of drainage & waste networks
- Educated to an A level or equivalent, or have equivalent experience
- Sound working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, Business Operating Plan, quality systems
- A positive mindset and the ability to both work alone and as part of a wider team
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems and office software - this is an office-based role using various IT system so competency is a must
