Mental Health Support Worker

**We are looking for Mental Health Support workers to work either days or nights at St Nicholas Care home in Bootle.**
**Job Purpose**
To be responsible for the well-being of residents within the Home, ensuring that their physical, emotional, and social needs are met whilst helping them to achieve their full capabilities.
**Principal Accountabilities and Activities**
To act as a key worker for a group of residents under the guidance of a registered nurse.
To provide the highest standards of holistic care and attention for the residents.
To participate fully in the overall care of the residents.
To assist with washing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene as per care plan.
To assist in maintaining safe levels of care and ensuring safe practice.
To help provide essential physical and mental stimulation by participating in recreational and social activities with residents individually, or in a group.
To assist in maintaining accurate records in accordance with registration and legal requirements.
To carry out instructions by senior staff in an efficient and conscientious manner.
To attend staff training, staff meetings and mandatory training.
To report any accidents relating to staff and/or residents as per procedures.
To ensure that the company policy on confidentiality is upheld.
To be respectful and courteous when dealing with colleagues, relatives, and other public and professional people.
To be prepared to undertake any aspects of care or non-caring duties as requested by nurse in charge.
To assist and facilitate in the welcoming and training of new staff members.
To assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Heath & Safety and Welfare policies and procedures.
Duty to whistle blow if witness bad practice or harm to a resident within the care home.
To ensure that adequate measures are taken to protect the Health and Safety of both residents and staff.
To adhere to company policies and procedures through effective quality audit.
To participate in the recruitment of staff, and in consultation with the Home Manager and in accordance with company policies, arrange orientation and induction programmes for all new staff.
**Qualifications, Training and Experience**
To have worked in a similar caring background.
NVQ Level 1.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work within a team environment.
**Environment**
All staff should bear in mind the overall objectives of the Home, namely that Residents will be encouraged to maintain independence and choice in a homely environment which promotes excellent customer relationships.
