**About Police Now**
Our mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and increase the public’s confidence in the police service, by recruiting, developing and inspiring outstanding and diverse leaders in society and on the policing frontline.
We are working towards a day when every community, whatever the socio-economic background of its residents, can thrive without being fearful of crime. We are looking for talented, committed and mission-aligned individuals who will drive us towards achieving our ambitions.
Police Now trains graduates and career changers with leadership potential to become inspirational police officers and outstanding crime fighters on our National Graduate Leadership Programme and our National Detective Programme. Beyond these programmes our officers are provided with the opportunity to join our Frontline Leadership Programme and be further developed giving them the best possible chance to progress through the policing ranks and have a lifelong connection with us. Our 115-strong not-for-profit organisation aims to create systemic change; we need highly capable impactful staff to support the recruitment and development of our officers and to cultivate strong relationships with partner forces and the wider sector.
**The purpose of your role**
You will be working within the Alumni and Ambassadors team to support the development, influence and progression of Police Now alumni from our National Graduate Leadership Programme, the National Detective Programme, and the Frontline Leadership Programme. The Alumni and Ambassadors team are key to achieving our mission of creating outstanding and diverse leaders on the policing frontline and in society, through ensuring Police Now alumni are successful and driving positive change in policing beyond the Police Now programmes.
The Alumni & Ambassadors team focuses on two key areas: delivering the Frontline Leadership Programme, and working with our alumni via a suite of support and development services. You will be working as part of the alumni side of the team. You will build relationships with our 1500+ alumni community supporting them to stay within and thrive within policing, and quickly progress to more senior ranks to maximise their impact, with a particular focus on supporting under-represented groups through positive action. Our goal is to create talented, ethical middle and senior officers, chiefs and decision-makers of the future, that are representative of their communities.
You will also support our alumni to run their own alumni networks and deliver ongoing professional development events through virtual and in-person events.
**Key responsibilities**
- Deliver positive action interventions to our officers, including 121 coaching sessions, supporting officers from underrepresented groups to navigate barriers to progression. Note: at this stage we have a particular focus on supporting those identifying as women or those identifying as an ethnic minority.
- Regularly attend in-programme events to engage and excite participants about the possibilities when they become alumni.
- Work with the programme teams to ensure a seamless transition (relationships and data) of each graduating cohort into our alumni community, and to communicate the Police Now alumni offer comprehensively and persuasively.
- Work with other team members to devise and deliver professional development events which support alumni to develop their leadership skills.
- Lead Police Now networks which support alumni to get promoted and thrive at leadership ranks within policing.
- Support alumni to sustain their own alumni networks on a variety of topics, which keep them engaged with our mission.
- Keep our alumni website up to date, advertising events and support opportunities.
- Support the Frontline Leadership Programme team to deliver in-person Taught Days where required.
**Key requirements**
- An excellent understanding and passion for Police Now’s mission and values.
- Experience working within policing, either as an officer or as police staff; an understanding of police promotions is an advantage but not essential.
- A strong understanding of the diversity and inclusion challenges and opportunities that exist within policing, and possible positive action activities that can support the progression and success of underrepresented groups.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver events that ensure a high-quality delegate experience; project management experience is an advantage.
- An ability to confidently present to large groups of people both online and at in-person events, including creating engaging content and facilitating interactive sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to build professional, credible and long-lasting working relationships beyond your own network
- An ability to work independently, taking personal responsibility for delivery of projects, while also working closely with a small team of colleagues.
