Experimental Officer in Sub-thz Micromechanical CNC

We wish to appoint an experimental officer for supporting research in sub-THz traveling wave tubes by high precision CNC milling and microfabrication of parts for sub-THz traveling wave tubes and other waveguide based devices.
You will join a world leading team in design and fabrication of sub-THz traveling wave tubes.
You will work in an exciting international environment with substantial development opportunities and collaborate with top institutions and companies worldwide.
The research is to produce state of the art traveling wave tubes. These electronic devices are made of by high precision metal parts that need to be fabricated with high accuracy and high surface finishing by CNC milling. The parts then will be assembled by different high precision joining techniques, such as diffusion bonding, laser welding, brazing.
The research is led by Professor Claudio Paoloni.
Lancaster University is campus-based and is situated adjacent to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and proximate to another AONB and two National Parks in the north-west of England. Lancaster is just one hour from international airports at Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds. The town and the region are home to a variety of excellent schools and enjoy excellent public transport and national rail links. A wide selection of facilities is available on campus including a large variety of social facilities, eateries, a new sports centre, and a highly regarded pre-school centre.
