The post is funded through Biofoundry core funding to develop cutting-edge automated molecular biology workflows. The research assistant will join the Biofoundry team to work closely with the Head of Automation on workflow development to support high-throughput approaches for the assembly of DNA, transformation and characterisation of production strains and NGS library preparations. The workflows will involve high-throughput cloning, assay development, automated liquid handlers, a range of analytical methods including HPLC and LC-MS and next generation sequencing instruments.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Development and execution of high-throughput strain engineering pipelines
- Assay development for enzyme characterisation
- To ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times
- To maintain accurate and complete records of all findings
- To assist with the publication of findings

**Essential requirements**:
Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Synthetic Biology or Engineering (or equivalent)

Experience with automated liquid handlers: Echo and Biomek instruments

Experience in a research laboratory environment

Experience with protein expression and characterisation

Experience with NGS library preparations

**Further information**:
This is a Full Time and fixed term (12 months) role, based at the South Kensington Campus.
