Asylum & Immigration Adviser

We have an exciting opportunity for an Asylum & Immigration Adviser to play a vital role in providing support and advice to our clients.

We want to hear from you if you are an experienced Asylum & Immigration Adviser (Law Society Accredited Senior Caseworker) who is registered with the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner, either with or without the necessary accreditation to provide supervision.

**Salary**: £30,230 - £34,249 per annum, pro rata (pending experience/qualifications)
**Hours**: 30 - 37 (to be discussed at interview)

**About the role**:
As an Asylum & Immigration Adviser, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission is ‘combating homelessness, creating opportunities, promoting change.’

As part of the asylum and immigration team, to advise and undertake legal aid casework (including preparing cases for the IAC to the Supreme Court), for BHT clients in asylum and immigration matters, in relation to an existing casework allocation, to include closing cases when necessary, billing and preparing them for billing.

If you have relevant experience and qualifications, you would also provide support to all members of the Asylum and Immigration Advice Team in the delivery of the service including file supervision, staff supervision and day-to-day support of advice staff when the Team Leader is away from the office.

To be successful in the role of Asylum & Immigration Adviser you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of the organisation. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:

- To undertake legal aid casework on asylum and immigration matters in accordance with current quality standards and the requirements of the Office of Immigration Service Commissioner and the Law Society.
- To provide services that assist clients to resolve their asylum and immigration problems including interviewing and advising clients, assessing courses of action, advising on legal procedures, and preparing cases from the First Tier IAC to the Supreme Court.
- To ensure that all work complies with the requirements of the Legal Aid Agency in relation to Legal Help, Controlled Work and Legal Aid Certificated matters as appropriate.
- To meet all contract and performance targets as agreed with the Asylum and Immigration Team Leader/Solicitor.
