Sen 1:1 Teaching Assistant

We are looking to recruit a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to assist the SEN team within a truly supportive secondary school In the London Borough of Lambeth.

Preferably, the school are looking for someone with experience working within an SEN department or who has had relative experience working with children who have complex learning differences. The school would consider graduates who want to become teachersand are open to taking a hands-on approach to an exciting new role. The position is starting ASAP until the end of the academic year.

**The Role**

In the role of an SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to support your key pupils throughout the school day. You will need to know how to communicate and engage with a pupil with complex learning differences. Under the direction of the SENCO,the school are eager to support their Teaching Assistants in delivering outstanding support to their SEN department. The team you will be working with are supported by a medically trained professional who is confident in their work and will support you alongthe way. You will be required to work and support both the teaching and support staff effectively within the school. As well as co-operating with parents or carers, students, and external agencies and ensuring safeguarding laws are always adhered to.

As such, anyone with a background centred around working within an SEN department as well as an established ability to support children and young people to improve their learning will be highly considered.

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in working with children who have SEN (Desirable)
- Capacity to form honest working relationships with students, parents or carers and colleagues alike
- Good oral and written communicative skills
- Ability to understand Makaton is or is happy to learn the fundamentals
- Good organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to work under pressure
- To be adaptable and flexible in the work you do and show that you can use your initiative
- To understand that you must be a good role model for students and colleagues alike
- Secondary school with outstanding professional development
