**Fresh Produce Operative**
Working as part of the Product Team, the Fresh Produce Operative is a hands-on role responsible for quality checking deliveries of fruit and vegetables, splitting bulk wholesale orders down into retail sizes and picking and packing orders for ecommerce. This will include covering some ordering duties when the Fresh Produce Buyer is away.
Fruit and veg is a vitally important part of The Newt, so every piece that comes in or is sent out must be checked for quality. We are looking for someone who can work often alone and at pace, with a keen eye for detail.
This will be a physical and varied role encompassing keeping excellent records of goods-in and receipts, stock rotation, wastage and keeping the produce fridge clean and tidy.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Quality checking all orders when they arrive
- Committing to the highest standards of quality for every piece of fresh produce that is used on the Estate
- Picking and packing for retail and hospitality sites including splitting large orders into retail / hospitality packaging
- Keeping excellent records of delivery notes and invoices and relaying information on a timely basis
- Working in the large F&V fridge and keeping the area clean and tidy
- Understanding the processes and systems around the fresh produce department
- Continuously improving standards for packaging

**What we're looking for**
- Experience working with Fresh Produce highly desirable
- Operational warehouse experience desirable
- Forklift licence desirable
- Organised, efficient with attention to detail and a keen eye for quality
- A person who will take pride and ownership in their area
**Where you'll be working - The Product Team**
The Product Team is responsible for every aspect of product across the estate covering retail in our shops and online, products for hospitality, events and wholesale. The team includes buying and merchandising, new product development, packaging and procurement.
The Product Team will work alongside the various internal departments to help to develop the product proposition of the key pillars of the estate: hotel, gardens, visitor attractions as well as the butchery, creamery, productive growing and bakery, adding products that complement these pillars and fit with The Newt’s vision: prioritising seasonality, sourcing or producing the highest quality products, and using local suppliers where possible.
