Are you an enthusiastic, friendly and innovative individual? Are you an attentive and keen listener who can discuss sensitive topics? Do you enjoy sharing inspiring stories? Are you interested in the future potential of gifts in wills? Would you like to be part of an expanding team in delivering a strong legacy campaign? Then we want to hear from you
You will be part of the Individual Giving Team in the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA) and will be responsible for implementing an innovative programme of legacy acquisition activities, providing support and information for those considering pledging a legacy gift, and stewarding current legacy pledgers through the Heslington Circle. You will coordinate an annual calendar of legacy activities, including the key highlights:
- Producing a seasonal digital legacy newsletter
- Implementing an annual acquisition campaign using telephone, digital and/or print communications.
- Organising an annual stewardship event for members of the Heslington Circle.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who can bring innovative ideas to the ever-growing legacy programme to help raise awareness for gifts in wills, increase the number of legacy pledgers, and deliver outstanding stewardship for current pledgers and inspire them to increase their pledge. You will use your skills in relationship management and communications to provide an outstanding experience for all potential and future legacy donors.
This is an exciting time to be joining the OPPA team. The University is embarking upon delivering its mission to become a University for Public Good and has just made a significant investment to increase philanthropy and alumni engagement over the next 10 years as we look to establish a more representative and inclusive community.
It is also a great time to get involved with legacy gifts, as over the next 25 years there will be the biggest transfer of wealth from one generation to the next in the UK’s history, with the legacy expected to be worth £4.7 billion by 2029.
**We are looking for people with**:
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience of managing relationships.
- Able to write clearly, concisely and persuasively to promote the importance of legacy giving.
- Enthusiasm for philanthropy and its benefits to students, academics, and wider community.
- Creative and innovative approach, with a willingness to contribute fresh ideas.
- Organised and flexible with strong prioritisation skills.
**Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni**:
The Philanthropy Officer (Legacies) will join an expanding team of creative, visionary and dedicated professionals. OPPA is responsible for cultivating relationships with philanthropic donors and volunteers and maintaining life-long links with our alumni community through a range of benefits and services.
The role will work with colleagues to achieve ambitious new goals to increase philanthropy and volunteering and develop a sector-leading alumni engagement programme.
