**Main Purpose of Role.**
- To provide critical support to the Cambridge site ensuring that production and site assets are maintained, and that operational downtime is minimised.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate operational and/or building HSE activities for the site.
- Act as the primary contact for specific operational and/or building HSE matters with managers and teams across the site and primary interface with UK QHSE team
**Key Responsibilities.**
- A key aspect of this role is the responsibility for ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements relating to facilities maintenance are carried out in a timely manner.

In addition, this role will monitor and manage the waste processes, maintain the site and grounds in line with the landlord’s expectations and requirements and will coordinate and perform the site’s regulatory requirements in line with HSE systems and reporting of site QHSE KPI data to group.
This role will also assist the QHSE UK Food Manager in the integration of the HSE procedures provided by Group and help in ensuring full compliance with the company requirements.
The role will promote the use of Crystal interfaces to ensure hazards, near misses and accidents are raised in the appropriate manner and actioned within agreed timelines.
**General responsibilities include**
- Efficient and effective management of the stores and waste areas, including delivery management, inventory control and safe disposal of waste.
- Effectively manage all minor facilities projects such as refurbishments, space configuration and lab fit outs
- Management of the external solvent store.
- Coordinate HSE and Facilities meetings at site level to discuss needs and expectations of the site.
- Communicate and promote the requirements for UK HSE Policies and procedures to personnel on site.
- Ensure at site level, the building is safe and secure at all times, and all site HSE requirements are fulfilled within the required time frames including but not limited to HVAC, fixed and portable electrical safety, cold and hot water systems, waste management and compliance, Legionella testing / control and fire safety.
- Assist the QHSE UK Food Manager to ensure that only authorised and approved procedures are used throughout the site and assist in the monthly reporting of KPIs into Crystal. Promoting the requirements of hazards, incidents and near miss reporting into Crystal and contributing to their investigation / root cause analysis and actions implemented.
- Work with the Laboratory Managers on site to report issues relating to the facilities and HSE.
- Coordinate Fire and First Aid provisions for the building including the delivery of two fire drills per year.
- Undertake the role of competent person for local Permit to Work activities and manage the HSE aspects of building related contractors.
**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
**Essential**
- Experience of working in a facilities or maintenance role.
- An eye for detail and ability to work to a consistently high and reproducible standard under pressure with mínimal supervision.
- Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and to strict time deadlines.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to create a positive working relationship with team leaders and laboratory management.
- Flexible attitude to working hours.
- Familiarity with standard operating procedures within laboratory and management systems (e.g. ISO17025, ISO9001).
- Database management and a strong IT skill set in Microsoft Office.
- Driving Licence**.**

Qualifications**
Essential**:

- Educated to degree level; experience in working in laboratory environments.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
**Desirable**
- Science qualification.
- BIFM Level III Qualification.
