Village Vet are seeking a HR Advisor to join their fantastic central support team across London, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
Your role and responsibilities
The HR Advisor will provide support, advice and guidance to all veterinary practices at our largest group, Village Vets who are based in London, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. They will be responsible for the monthly payroll for Village Vet Central Support team and work closely with the central People Services team and line managers regarding associate onboarding and Workday/Cascade. In this role, you will develop and maintain strong relationships and provide excellent HR advice to our teams across Village Vet. You will also work closely with the HR Business Partner and Associate Relations Advisor to ensure that all Associate Relations cases are addressed and resolved fairly, objectively, consistently and in a manner that aligns with our Five Principles and the Associate Concept. You will support with P&O projects, with ad-hoc administrative support such as bulk letters for salary increases, sharing company communications, checking and managing data for the area including Workday and Cascade, recruitment and training and developing line managers. You will be able to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment and have strong, clear, written, and verbal communication skills.
Rota: 42 hours a week. Monday to Friday.
**Responsibilities**:
- Be the first point of contact for HR queries from associates or managers, including queries on contract wordings, inductions, onboarding, absence, holiday calculations, pay, benefits etc.
- Work with People Services Team and line managers to ensure we have an efficient onboarding process in line with Workday. Supporting with any tasks that sit outside of the Workday process which may include reference requests, probation letters, new starter and leaver information, training contracts and following up on right to work checks/new starter documentation
- Manage the monthly payroll for the Central Support office and support line managers with Payroll queries. Working closely with HRBP on salary uplifts and helping to ensure data is correct on Workday and Cascade, drafting pay review letters and distributing to the Heads of Department
- Support the deployment of Associate Relations policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Make recommendations regarding improvement to policies, practices and procedures focused on ensuring legal compliance, best practice awareness, consistency, effectiveness and capability
- Work with the AR Advisor/HRBP on grievances, disciplinaries, absence etc. to address issues and resolve quickly. Also, help to proactively support managers and coach them in handling these types of processes
- Actively work with line managers on reducing absence by providing regular data, holding meetings, supporting wellbeing, occupational health referrals, coaching on return-to-work meetings and the absence management process.
- Help managers with the recruitment process such as supporting in interviews/note taking etc. and providing guidance on a fair and consistent approach to recruitment
- Support line managers and associates with information and processes for company benefits such as distributing Specsavers eye care vouchers, Private Medical Insurance, Cycle2Work and the Recruitment Referral Reward scheme
- Work with all line managers to ensure that all associates receive a comprehensive induction and help to review the induction processes identifying any areas for improvement.
- Review the Mental Health First Aiders on a monthly basis to ensure this is kept up to date and all leavers are removed, flagging to the relevant HRBP if there is little or no MHFA support in the practices so we can ensure training is provided. Review with line managers and ensure all associates complete mental awareness training
- VDS Management: Ensuring any new clinical associates have the appropriate cover and any leavers are removed from the VDS policy
- Provide ad-hoc support on any reporting requirements from the business for example Mars Auditing Support, request from the Office of National Statistics.
